MC Notes

Attention: All Junior and Senior Parents

Please note: (*If your son is bringing a guest to the prom, he is responsible for getting the following information to his date.)

The entire junior class will have a meeting on Thursday at which time Mr. Valdez and the Deans will speak with them regarding appropriate and respectful behavior for the evening, before and after, and strict adherence at all times to our Code of Behavior.

Your son or daughter will be bringing a PROM CONTRACT home for you to read and review with them. Please do so before signing and returning. Students will not be allowed to buy bids until this contract is signed and returned.

Also, this afternoon the junior and senior girls met in the gym with Dean of Students Gina Pierucci, Student Activities Director Lynn Maloney, and Class Moderators Jessica Kraus and Gina Grant for the PROM FASHION SHOW.

Girls were given the scoop on proper, respectful, and modest parameters for prom dresses and the consequences should there be a problem. There was a brief fashion show on what dresses would NOT be appropriate and which would be. We had a few laughs, but the visuals made a point.

The expectations:
· Sleeveless, even strapless dresses (mid-back but not completely backless) are appropriate; the top of the dress must not be too revealing.
· Dress length should be mid-thigh and NO SHORTER. This can be tricky because of different body types. Modesty when bending, sitting, etc. is key!
· Spandex and stretchy creep-up fabric (those dresses with the thick bands on the bottom) are not appropriate as they do not work for moving and dancing.
· If the student is inappropriately dressed, she will call home and be required to wear leggings and/or scarves, even perhaps another dress that will be provided.

In the event we are not able to find an immediate solution, the student may not be allowed on the boat.

If there are any questions, please feel free to have your daughter show her dress to Ms. Pierucci and/or Ms. Maloney for approval before the day of Prom.

We certainly do not wish for any problems to occur, so we are making every effort to be proactive rather than having to be reactive. Thank you for your partnership with the school in making sure this evening is appropriate and enjoyable for all.

Very special thanks go out to Kimberley Harmon, Aprilanne Hurley, Levin Kinsey, Karen MacLean, Carol Legnitto and Sue Santo for their extra time and expertise in delivering food, organizing the dishes, decorating, set up and clean up. T-Shirts for Haiti

Two Marin Catholic seniors, Harry McHugh and Trent Blodgett have started their own T-shirt company, Orijinol Konceptz. They have made a shirt to support the victims in Haiti, donating all proceeds to the Red Cross. Shirts will be on sale at school for $15 each and you can check out the design and place an order at www.orijinol.com.
