Academics
The Marin Catholic curriculum is designed to provide a challenging, college prep experience for all of our students. Along with the development and enhancement of essential skills, the required course of study encourages exploration and self-evaluation. Successfully completing the academic program, which includes choosing the most rigorous course of study one can, qualifies students for admission to the most competitive colleges and universities. All of our graduates go on to colleges, with 95% of the Class of 2007 matriculating to four-year colleges and universities.
Typical Freshman Schedule
- English/Honors English
- Religious Studies
- Algebra/Advanced Algebra/Honors Advanced Algebra
- Foreign Language (French, Italian, or Spanish)
- Global Studies/Honors Global Studies
- Biology/Honors Biology
- Elective (Physical Education, Computer Literacy)
- Visual or Performing Arts for students wishing a 4-year Arts Program
* Qualified students may take an accelerated course of study in Math, Foreign Language, Computer Studies and Science.
Graduation Requirements
Students are required to pursue a course of study which includes enrollment in seven academic classes each year and which leads to the completion of a minimum of 260 total credits:
- Four (4) years of English (40 credits).
- Four (4) years of Religious Studies (40 credits).
- Four (4) years of Social Studies (40 credits).
- Two (2) years of Foreign Language (20 credits).
- One (1) year of Visual or Performing Arts (10 credits).
- Two (2) years of Science (20 credits).
- Three (3) years of Mathematics (30 credits) - including Algebra, Geometry and Intermediate Advanced Algebra.
- One (1) semester of Physical Education (5 credits).
- One (1) semester of Computer Education (5 credits).
- Electives to complete the 260 credits required for graduation.
- Christian Service - 25 hours for each year enrolled at Marin Catholic.
- A retreat for each year enrolled at Marin Catholic.
- Junior College Project.
